Norwegian Man Discovers Cargo Ship in His Garden by the Trondheim Fjord

A man from Norway found himself startled awake as he discovered a cargo vessel had grounded nearby and barely avoided slamming into his house near the shores of the Trondheim Fjord.

Johan Helberg informed Norwegian broadcaster NRK that he had been asleep throughout the entire incident and only awakened when a neighbor began ringing his doorbell after noticing the ship heading toward the shoreline on Thursday morning.

The images reveal the vessel's red and green prow mere meters away from Helberg's residence. He informed NRK that the sole damage was to a wiring of a heating pump.

Had it been five meters farther south, it would have gone into the bedroom," he stated to NRK. "I didn’t hear a thing.

According to authorities, they were informed that the Cypriot-owned vessel NCL Salten was headed for Orkanger in Norway’s Trønderlag region when it ran aground just before 6 AM on Thursday.

There were no reports of injuries or oil spills. Subsequent attempts to free the vessel during high tide did not succeed.

The shipping company NCL stated they were informed about the situation and are working together with law enforcement for their investigation.
