Dion Dublin's £1.2 Million Mansion Awaits Demolition in "Homes Under the Hammer"

Host of Homes Under the Hammer Dion Dublin has received approval to tear down his dilapidated manor and construct a cluster of high-end residences.

Last year, the former Celtic and Manchester United striker, who is 56 years old, spent £1.24 million on an extravagant home in Caldy, an upscale village located on the Wirral Peninsula in Merseyside, alongside his spouse, Cheryl.

He had initially intended to refurbish the dilapidated estate With Wirral Council approving his plan to restore the house to its previous splendor.

The plans also state that the replacement home would not overlook or create any 'loss of privacy issues' to existing neighbouring properties.

The application that has received approval will see the new home better align with the family's 'needs and aspirations,' according to them.

The design aims to 'establish a high-quality new living space' whilst ensuring 'it blends harmoniously with the streetscape,' according to the description.

The proposals indicate that the new house, offering stunning vistas of the River Dee estuary and northern Wales, as well as being only a five-minute stroll from the closest shore, will neither look into nor cause any 'privacy concerns' for nearby existing homes.

Dublin, who transitioned into punditry and television after his football career ended, once disclosed that he was invited to host "Homes Under the Hammer" by the BBC when they found out about his new construction company following his retirement from the sport.

He said: '(They) said, '"Do you fancy walking around an empty house in Salford and telling us what you think of it?" And that's basically what happened.

'I walked around an empty house in Salford with a cameraman, had a look around and I said what I would do if it was mine. They liked it and there you go, that's how I've got onto Homes Under the Hammer.'

Dublin, who married wife, Cheryl, in 2017, is also currently a director at former club Cambridge United.

During his playing days he also had spells with Manchester United, Coventry City and Aston Villa before retiring and moving into broadcasting.

Wirral Council stated: "The suggested construction of a new house does not appear harmful to the overall appearance of the surrounding area and is deemed appropriate regarding size and aesthetics."

The development is likewise deemed not to negatively affect the facilities that neighboring property occupants can reasonably anticipate enjoying, and it offers adequate housing options for future residents' satisfaction.
